BÌåÓý is excited for you to join us for theÌýNew Student Orientation (NSO)Ìý±è°ù´Ç³¦±ð²õ²õ. NSO is a multi-step process for all new students. The purpose of NSO is to ensure a smooth and seamless transition into college life. These steps include a SOAR event, advisement for a class schedule, Flight School and, for campus freshmen, Eagle Bound.
ÌýAfter the student is accepted into the university AND submits theÌý, the next steps to complete are:
Step 1: Register for and Attend a SOAR Event (Freshmen, Transfers, Dual Enrollment)
- SOAR is a one-day event that is required for all new students who are attending campus-based programs (freshmen, transfer and dual enrollment). By attending a SOAR session, you will have a chance to get answers to all your questions about academics and campus life, safety and community standards, health and wellness resources, as well as what it means to belong to the BÌåÓý Family.
- Parents, family members, and legal guardians have an important role to play in supporting students throughout the college journey. We strongly encourage you to participate in orientation alongside your new college student. Students can add up to two guests to their reservation when they sign up. Join us for the entire process and get to know our community.
- Students who have been admitted to the university, andÌýÌýwill receive an email invitation to register for SOAR. Invitations are sent to the personal email address listed on your BÌåÓý application and we encourage you to include your parents, family members, and/or legal guardians as your guests.
- SOAR sessions will be offered to all students who have submitted the tuition deposit and are scheduled in June, July and August for the fall semester start term. If you are a spring semester start term student, sessions are offered in January. Do not wait to register for the event as these sessions fill up quickly!
- Plan for this session as an all-day event,Ìý9am-5pm,Ìýand the schedule will be sent to your email address prior to the event.
- Once your event registration has been received, a confirmation email will be sent to the student.

- Attend SOAR
- The SOAR event helps you and your family get through the next steps toward your college journey:
- Register for classes in based on the advisement session you had before your arrival.
- Learn the next steps and requirements with the student health center, residential living and/or commuter requirements.
- Meet your fellow classmates coming to BÌåÓý.
- Discover how our BÌåÓý community and resources will support you on campus.
- Meet your school dean, faculty and other community members who are here to help you thrive.
- Our exceptional orientation leaders will be at the event to guide you along the way to get you connected to our community.
- The SOAR event helps you and your family get through the next steps toward your college journey:
Step 2: Advising for Class Registration (Freshmen, Transfers, Dual Enrollment)
- Advising & Registration –ÌýOnce you have made yourÌýSOARÌýreservation, you will have an appointment with an academic advisor to discuss your first semester class schedule. Once you have met with your advisor, you will be cleared to register for your first semester classes. During yourÌýSOAR session, you will register for your first semester classes and leave with your schedule in hand.
Step 3: Complete the online Flight School Course (Freshmen, Transfers, Dual Enrollment)
- Flight SchoolÌýis anÌýonline orientation course in Canvas that can be completed asynchronously (self-paced, independently). This will be like taking a class and includes different modules (units) covering campus resources, policies, and support services. You will receive access toÌýFlight School by mid-July once you have made your NSO Reservation.
- After you have logged into yourÌý, using the credentials emailed to you, theÌýFlight SchoolÌýcourse will be listed in the Canvas platform. If you have not received credentials for login, please contact the office of admissions. If you have received credentials, but not able to login, please BÌåÓý Help Desk atÌýhelpdesk@reinhardt.edu.
- This self-paced, online course should be completedÌýpriorÌýto your arrival on campus for the start of the semester.
Step 4: Complete Flight Ready tasks and plan to attend a Flight Ready Event
Flight Ready is the clearance process through which students complete key tasks to ensure that they have a smooth flight at the beginning of each semester.ÌýRemember, the goal is to complete the Flight Ready process prior to the start of classes for the upcoming semester. - Flight Ready is for ALLÌý new and returning campus based students, and graduate residents (online students who are not on campus are not required to attend).
- A Flight Ready event serves as a move-in day for residents and commuter student check-in day. The schedule for the Flight Ready events will be emailed to each student with a notification of the offices students are required to visit. You will sign up for a designated time to arrive on campus and be directed to the space on campus according to your Flight Ready status report.
- Students are sent weekly Flight Ready Status reports to your BÌåÓý email address. This report indicates the tasks that need to be completed in the process to attend BÌåÓý.
- Flight Ready Event includes these offices:

- Business Office
- Housing & Residential Education
- Student Health Center
- Office of Admission
- Academic Deans for advisement
Step 5: Attend Eagle Bound and Welcome Week events (Freshmen)
- Eagle BoundÌýis the final step in a smooth transition to BÌåÓý and will take place in August, the weekend before the start of fall semester classes.
- An action-packed multi-day experience for new first-time freshmen, who are commuter or residential students.
- This experience fully immerses you into becoming a RU Eagle and where you begin to explore, embrace, and engage what it really means to be a thriving member of the BÌåÓý community.
- You’ll meet new people, make new friends, and find new connections.
- Students must attend a SOAR session and complete the online Flight School prior to attending these events.
- The schedule of Eagle Bound events will be emailed to each student.
- Welcome Week activities begin the first week of class and include theÌýNew Student Induction ceremonyÌýthat you don’t want to miss!

Please Note: All incoming main campus students to BÌåÓý will be charged a New Student Orientation Fee of $175 that covers the entire orientation process.

The mission of New Student Orientation (NSO), aligning with the institutional mission, is to holistically address the developmental needs of new BÌåÓý students and families in transition within the BÌåÓý community. NSO and its related programs are designed and implemented to offer a comprehensive student and parent experience that introduce educational, social, and personal resources to facilitate the success of new students. NSO focuses on innovative collaborations with BÌåÓý departments, and aims to develop skilled and confident Orientation leaders in order to meet the changing needs of our diverse community.
